Bought this at the suggestion of my dog trainer. We've been working on getting my leash reactive Great Pyrenees to walk on a loose leash for four months with little success. After 3 weeks of using this leash, he is 90% better on walks!

The sidekick works perfectly my wife can now walk with young dogs normally and not that they will pull her over the street. It is amazing how this works.

This is the best ‘walking’ leash we have ever used. Our boys behave like gentlemen as soon as we put them on. They feel calm because they feel under control.

I did not look forward to walking my dog before this leash because she would pull so hard. I had a professional dog trainer recommended this leash because my daughter was going to start 4H dog training and could not control our dog. The first time we put the Hero on our dog, she changed completely. The pulling decreased significantly, and walking her is so pleasant now. I highly recommend this leash it really did make all the difference for us.

I had worked with a trainer with the other dog. She turned us on to this kind of leash,and we have added a second dog since then .Couldn't find the first leash, so I had to buy another. So technically for this dog we are not working with a trainer, but it is what I learned from the trainer that I am applying now. This dog is having a harder time adjusting to the feel of it on his snout, but he is coming along and it does wonders for calming him down on a walk.

Our Golden has always been a tugger on her leash. Had a dog trainer when she was young, but didn't help when we walked her by ourselves. Used a Gentle Leader for years, without good results. Felt so sorry for her as her nose got raw where the Gentle Leader dug in as she continued to tug. A friend recommended Side Kick as it immediately helped stop his Golden from tugging. We thought it was too good to be true, but bought a Side Kick for our girl. After watching all of your training videos, we tried it out and it worked PERFECTLY!! Immediate success!! No more tugging and she seems so much more relaxed. She walks calmly and sits when asked using the method shown on your video. We enthusiastically recommend Side Kick!!

I have a 135 lb Mastiff puppy who is well behaved until he sees another dog he wants to play with and decides to drag me along with him. I used it on my slightly reactive pup. It fits comfortably. She seems to be a bit calmer when it's on.

Your transitional leash works great to keep our dog calm on walks! I wonder if there is a way to hold it in place better. When first putting it on our dog, It's very difficult to position the sliding piece so that it stays at the center of her nape, and it often slips to one side or another when she shakes (which she does a lot!). Thank you!

Since getting your product, our Beagle no longer pulls like he is in some kind of tug-of-war. It has made walking him a much more pleasant experience. Well worth the money.

This leash has helped with my reactive pitbull. She loves other dogs but is sometimes fearful of people.

My goldendoodle had a very big pulling problem. I tied the easy walk harness and the gentle leader. Neither worked very well. The first time we used the sidekick it was like a switch went off in my dogs head.

I have a rescue Miniature Schnauzer, 8 yrs. old and she is a puller!!!I practiced with this and now she actually walks without all that pulling. She is getting better every day and I would recommend this for sure! I am 80 years old and we walk at least half mile a day and I no longer dread these walks!

I purchased this head halter on the advice of other volunteers with the rescue we foster and volunteer for. We foster giant breed pups (like great danes) and this halter was awesome for our current foster pups! Buying another as well as one for our smaller dogs. Great product!

Great tool for walking/training my Mastiff mix (130lbs). I no longer fear the errant cat out of the sewer or squirrel down a tree when my wife is walking him. I would like to see an option that was slightly longer (~8ft) to use when hiking on trails that are only single-track requiring him to walk in front/behind.

Love using this product!!! I have two fearful dogs and Ellie has a tendency to pull not matter what and she is just beside me walking now. Working with my sons super fearful pup. He does great in the yard and we are starting out front with minimal distractions and doing better all the time. Love that it’s an all in one too!leash/collar

My dog was very reactive when seeing/encountering other dogs. She would cry as though being hurt(she wasn’t). When going for a walk she would pull, strain and frog position to go. It became difficult to walk her. While visiting a friend she showed me how her dog walked/reacted while wearing the sidekick-I knew I had to try it and I’m so very pleased with how my dog now prances on her walks! She at first attempted to react and quickly realized she was unable and proceeded to continue on her walk!!!

Nina did not care for it at first and I only used it in an emergency, when she would get the zoomies on a walk. But we go to daycare and she pulls horribly on the leash. (She also pulls on the no-pull harness.) Finally I realized that she loves going to daycare, and is always happy to come home - so she is happy to wear it when she enters and leaves the facility! The staff at the daycare were stunned at her improvement, and we all love it! Now she cheerfully lets me put it on, and I feel so much safer not being pulled off my feet. It’s a great leash.

I volunteer with an animal shelter and we are fortunate to have a great trainer who helps us with preparing dogs for adoption. Basic manners, including walking well on leash without pulling, are very desirable. The Sidekick has proven to be a great tool for us - many times, it has turned the strongest, most rambunctious dogs into wonderful walking companions. It also helps with other aspects of training, as the dogs know that wearing this piece of equipment means that they will be rewarded for their efforts. The dogs look forward to having their Sidekick put on so that the learning fun can begin!

This is my 3rd one. I love the head bridle- had an English bridle before but no longer accessible here. The sidekick is the same idea only simpler to put on! I have 2 large dogs - they out weigh me by quite a bit- I can easily walk them together now. The 3 one o bought I will keep in my car - in case- . Thank you. The only thing I would see as an improvement would be a longer line - to 8-10 feet.

Our black lab mix, Annie, pulled on the leash all the time. I hear about Heathers hero leash through a friend and thought I would try it out. I’m so glad we did! Annie walks so much better now and walks are actually enjoyable now! 10/10 recommend!

Trainer advised us on how well our Star did with this leash. We use it for training and to keep her calm. Love the clasp that attaches to her regular collar for added safety! Great product!

Our boy just turned 1 and has a ton of energy. Before getting the sidekick, we tried numerous leashes and he would pull me down the street on a regular basis. This leash has made a world of difference and has even allowed my daughter to be able to walk him. It’s only been a few weeks & he is still getting the hang of it, but is much more calm.

It's been a game changer. Much less pulling. I especially like that it can transition so quickly and easily between muzzle/slip lead and traditional lead.

We adopted a dog from our local shelter and went through the obedience training shortly after. We probably should've waited on the training until she had a chance to get to know us better. On walks, she pulls and does just about everything you don't want her to do. A friend told us about this "Sidekick" from Heather's Heroes. It took her a little bit to get used to the Sidekick...but the difference in walking her now with the Sidekick and before, is like night and day. This thing works miracles. I'm so glad my friend told me about Heather's Heroes and about the sidekick. I personally recommend it highly.

My border collie Burr has been a persistent puller all his life. I tried every device and every means of training with little success until we found the Sidekick. This has actually made our leash walks fun!

Great product! We have a 9month German Shorthair, and she is strong! We tried 2 cheap muzzle leashes which she chewed straight through, 2 different pronged collars which didn’t phase our puppy and she continued to pull hard on walks! This leash has worked wonders And would highly recommend!

The product is fantastic, but your flow of information needs work. It's critical to introduce the collar correctly, and I was fortunate to have advice from two trainers. If I didn't have that advice, I would have messed this up. There's a "learning portal" on your website, but it's only visible on my laptop. There's NO LINK to it on the nav bar on my phone, so I didn't find it initially. Also, what does "learning portal" mean? Please use clearer language and link it on the phone. In my confusion, I sent you an email asking for help. I didn't get an answer for more than a week -- plenty of time to ruin the introduction. So you're selling a great product, then taking a big risk that customers ruin their dog's relationship with it. That said, I'm very, very grateful for what you've provided!!!

Our puppy was constantly pulling me when we walked. With the new leash I love walking taking her for a walk.............no more pulling!

Our pup is 1 year old and weighs 72 lbs and is very very strong has pulled me down a few times fortunately nothing broken (I am 62 yo.) Our trainer recommended this head halter and it has been amazing the difference with our pup. I no longer worry about him pulling me down to the ground when he gets excited which as a puppy he is prone to do just about anytime.

Every trainer should have this transitional leash in their tool box. It really is a wonderful tool for any dog! Plus, I love the safety feature of being able to clip onto the flat collar.

These leashes are amazing!!!

This leash is magic! A friend of mine turned me onto one of a similar design, and it transformed our lives. Going from a strap-leash, where I had an unruly, wild beast, all of a sudden she walks like a show dog! I purchased this one because it was larger, as my puppy grew, and the larger diameter of the rope is softer on her nose. It's one of those things I wish I had invented. Couldn't imagine life without it.

Most of your videos show an older or more mature dog. I tried with a 4 month old standard poodle. TOO young for my dog. Will persist again at 6-7 months and I expect she can adjust then, and then I will love it.

These are good leashes for fearful dogs. They helped my Korean rescue dog, who was initially so fearful he could barely walk down a busy city block without becoming overwhelmed, feel more confident and protected. They also provide a high degree of control over his head and direction of travel, which makes it easier to redirect him when he is spiraling about something he sees or hears.

I gave it to my son who has a one year old doodle that was impossible to walk. It’s just the absolutely best leash out there. Now he can walk him and enjoy the time together.

We have tried everything to get our dog to not pull while walking - prong, e collar, starmark, harness, slip lead, and this is the ONLY thing that has ever made walking with him pleasant. Thank you :)

I will be purchasing the long lead soon to practice working from a distance. I already own two of the 6 foot leads for my two dogs & love them. It has been the best tool I have found out there. My 3 year old who is a puller- finally listens and my one year old who I started on this lead always hands out by my side. Go slow and follow the step by step instructions. Don't rush the process, make sure to let your dog get used to the lead on the nose. I followed the training portal for how to do this.

Purchased this on recommendation from our trainer. At first our puppy hated it and jumped and twisted. My husband has kept trying and now he is getting used to it during his long walks. It helps to control his jumping up and makes him pay attention.

The Sidekick truly is a lifesaver! My goldendoodle puppy was such a puller, making our walks far from fun. This was a recommendation by a trainer to help with that. I was skeptical, however ordered it, because I was willing to try anything. First try and walking was a dream. My pup still isn't 100% comfortable with the piece over her nose, but hoping she will eventually adjust. I also watched the YouTube videos from Heather's Heroes, which were helpful. There were similar products sold at the big box stores, but they didn't have the back up attachment to the collar, which was a must for me in case the nose piece got loose for some reason. In any case, thank you - has definitely improved my relationship with my pup and we love getting our steps in!

I have always used Gentle Leader head collars on my goldens, but I much prefer the soft rope of Heathers Heros Sidekick to the strap of the Gentle Leader. It definitely controls pulling.

I walk an over weight yellow lab for my elderly neighbor. He pulls a lot when he sees other dogs and my daughter uses this leash on her dog. Makes me feel safer and the lab is adjusting to the strap across the muzzle.

This leash has been a total game changer for our dog! Super grateful for this product and have finally been able to take our sweet pup on enjoyable pull-free walks!!

I have a rescue Staffy. She still looks like a marlin on a hook when she sees another dog but easier to calm her down with this. Work in progress but definitely improving. I like this lead/leash better than having to rely on pulling/giving pressure solely on neck.

This leash works incredibly well. It is much more effective than a prong collar, martingale or pinch collar! My dog quit pulling immediately the first time we used it. Several people in my training club recommended it to me after they had amazing results. Some of their dogs needed time to get used to it, but my guy did not mind it at all! Highly recommended!

The first day of dog training class I was so embarrassed by my dog's behavior. He was reactive, over-excited, and distracting. The trainers recommended this halter and I purchased it right away. MY 6 month old Goldendoodle puppy was a leash biter. Every walk was becoming a game of tug. I tried the sidekick on a friends recommendation and from the first it was a game changer. It did take a few times for her to stop trying to paw at it but she consistently walks longer and does not fight it AT ALL. Made walks with my dog fun again!

Spectacular product. I’m no professional, but I’ve trained dogs and horses nearly my whole life. This is one of the best products out there for dogs that pull, or you want to train for various types of “work.” The leash is high quality, made in the USA, super soft on your hands, and long enough to be truly comfortable. The spring slide mechanism is key. It configures the leash similar to a halter on a horse, also known as a “gentle leader” in the K-9 world. The pup can still eat, drink, bark, & bite. It does not take away any of your dog’s natural capabilities, but does help train good manners. My dog is trained to “pull” when hooked to a chest harness, like a sled dog, when I’m on roller blades. He’s taught to run quickly when hooked to a regular collar, as he runs along side my bicycle. This boy can RUN! And… he’s calm, and sweet as pie when using this leash. It is how he’s trained, but the training was easy. It uses their natural instinct. I fully recommend this leash combined with good old fashioned attention, treats, patience, and lots of love. Even the strongest pullers can be gentle and well mannered. I’ve trained German Shepards, Rottweilers, Labs, Vizslas, Hounds, Curs, and various mixed “mutts.” This works. Just remember to gently correct (it doesn’t take much when you control their whole face), and calmly praise your pup when doing well. Calm joy, like showing satisfaction, not excitement. They feed off of your energy, so you reap what you sow. This leash makes all of it much easier!! Give your pups a sweet pat & praise for me. They really are man’s best friend!
