We were adopted by a starving, stray puppy approx. 18 months old. After a few weeks of getting her healthy we contacted our dog trainer. She suggested getting the sidekick to help with the training and walking. Since we've been using this our walks are enjoyable and stress free because she is calm and controlled. We purposefully expose her to different people and dogs during our walks and she is interested, but remains calm and controlled. At some point we will transition her to her harness, but will keep this on hand. We highly recommend the sidekick!

My dog is very dog reactive and we live in a city with tons of dogs. There would be an issue every 5 minutes or less on walks, and training did not help at all.
If I could give this leash more stars I would. My very reactive dog is now completely calm on walks, doesn’t pull and doesn’t react to any triggers. It’s like she’s a different dog and my life is so much easier now.

We tried this after using the looping method our trainer showed us. Our dog is an escape artist and it wouldn't stay on. He recommended this leash and it's much better. She's worn other nose harnesses and always tries to take them off. This one she lets stay on for the entire walk. She still wants it off as soon as we get home, but that's ok. The quality is great, nice and thick. And unlike the loop method, if I have to yank her suddenly, this one pulls her nose back and not just her neck. We would buy it again.

Our trainer used this kind of gentle leader on our (overly friendly) staffie. Since he's quite strong, he's pulled me over a couple of times (the dog, not the trainer) using other leashes, so our trainer directed us to you. Big difference, our doggo is much less of a tow truck with your leader! My only suggestions for improvement would be to pad the handle and maybe make the snout loop softer as well since it does abrade his fur a little. Thanks for a very helpful product!

I bought the transition leash because Maggie May didn’t respond to any of the previous harnesses, collars or leashes that I tried, she is a 11 month old black Lab that pulled every time we went for a walk, It was like a light switch was flipped on when I put the transition leash on her, after a little bit of resistance on her part she settled down and started walking next to me and stopped pulling. The Sidekick worked great with my German Shepherd. My trainer recommended it because he had gotten too big for me to control when he pulled to go toward someone or something. It is soft and comfortable and he adjusted to it quickly,. He tolerated it well during the walk though as soon as we got home he would try to get it off. I liked that my trainer said that the dog controlled the tension. I am also using it with my smaller dog as a regular leash, because it is so comfortable to hold.

I'm sorry to leave this. But I only got to use the lead once. I have a rescue Rottweiler pup and he found this and actually chewed the plastic slide-stop mechanism. I sent an email today as well asking if I can get a replacement piece, but I don't think I can repair it. Great idea as a training lead, but I'm not so impressed by the plastic parts.

Helped my dog walk without pulling. Even without the nose loop. We did have to walk her with it for a week or so but she still tries to take it out…then when she does she just walks nicely beside…I think she really hates the nose loop so she walks nicely without to keep me from putting it back on.

I have two Portuguese water dogs. They’re very well trained except in our neighborhood on walks. If they see another dog they get very excited and pull and jump around. It’s very hard for me to control them when this happens. This leash is fantastic as it keeps their attention on me and I don’t feel that they are going to pull me over. The big test was walking past two huge barking and lunging German Shepherd‘s, and a great Dane behind a fence. My dogs walked calmly, and in a heel position. This has never happened before.

My chocolate lab pulls a lot on walks. I have tried every type of leash / harness out there. She doesn't like the over the fave style for the first 5 minutes of the walk and constantly tries to get it off but then once she accepts that she has to wear it there is a very noticeable difference in her pulling.

I have two sidekicks for 2 of my 3 dogs. Neither are strong pullers, just unfocused. It's made a world of difference. One of the 2 is a 5 month old puppy and it's made his leash training so much easier. The other is 6 years old. It took both dogs two times to get used to it but after that there wasn't a problem.

I love the nose halter. I have a very strong pitbull mix so he needs to walk with the nose halter. This one is much more comfortable than the first one I had. My only suggestion would be to add a rubber or foam grip around the end of the leash where you hold it.

I have tried everything and I would not be able to walk Charlie without it! I have more control with him than any other leash I have used and he walks better with me using it. Great customer support! Love the product. Just a few suggestions (as I literally have purchased every type of walking collar for my puppies to try and find one that works). This one is my favorite, but a few improvement ideas: 1) the nylon is great over the dog's nose, but my puppy turned around on Day 2 while getting used to it, took one bite on the rope, and bit through several strands of the nylon and now its coming apart. Maybe a stronger nylon? Also nylon is very slippery on the hands, so if you want to hold dog closer to get him used to 'healing', it would be great to have a secondary handle closer to the dog's head (and leave the handle where it is now at the end, too) so one can grab the dog closer to the head when training it to stay by owner's side. Rope is too slippery to grab anywhere other than the handle at the end.

On a regular leash he pulls like a husky at the start of the Iditarod. On the Sidekick he walks like he has been trained to heel. What a difference. Great product that. Love the product but our rubber taping came loose very fast. Now it is just sliding over the stitched part. My suggestion is to use stronger/tape or adhesive:) I bought 2 for my large pups and they have been great aside for the tape issue.

We are having trouble training because we are always walking two dogs. The one in training wears a Heathers hero leash and the other dog does not wear one. I'm assuming that is not good practice because both dogs still pull and act out when another dog--especially a big one is in view. the dog in training does sit when pulling up on the short leash. I have a Belgian Malinois (10 years old) who is on her game, totally trained and trustworthy. But that drive when we leave the house in the morning! Omg. The sidekick changed the game. She trots along next to me instead of pulling ahead. On the way home she doesn’t need the nose piece and I can transition her to the slip lead. Really terrific.
I also just got a Berger Picard. My 1.5 year old 90 lb puppy is slow to learn and YANKS to get to a smell or another dog as though his life depended on it. Not anymore! At least not with the Sidekick. Lol.
And neither of them fights or fusses when I put the leads on. Well done!

I have always trained on slip leads and my newest addition needed a slightly stronger correction to keep focused. He has a very high prey drive and is easily distracted. This lead has allowed us to work on loose lead walking and boundaries. It is comfortable in my hand and easy to work with. It also stays in place better than any leash I have owned. As he improves I am hoping to be able to use the lead as a slip.

This was great. Shelby is so excited and over simulated when walking, this helped her to know this is a time to walk, not play or sniff everything. With other leaders, Shelby was able to get her claws onto it and pull it off. Not this one, pull up slightly and it stop the struggle. No I just need her to stop walking ahead of me. Patience and I will continue walking, gently pulling back or stopping. Not sure why a waited so long after seeing it on Shark Tank. But I have already told several people about it. Thank you.

I'm a professional dog trainer and I feel this leash masters the nose loop. In so many ways it's better and softer than a figure 8 slip lead. It can also be more easily used on dogs that have never experienced the nose loop without applying too much pressure. The safety strap is well placed and prevents unnecessary nose loop protest. And the double D-ring under the chin prevents uncomfortable running and Mal-adjustment, which is really nice. I also feel it's easier for guardians to use without making mistakes. I love this training tool and I recommend it for about 80% of my client's (every dog is different and some need different tools, but this is the most applicable tool I've found for a large number of dogs I work with.) I love it!!!
